Tim is the principal of farrelly’s, the first dedicated asset allocation research house in New Zealand and Australia. Paul Barrett, ANZ Advice Australia - The future of financial
advice The New Zealand government has made no secret of the fact that the new financial adviser regulatory environment owes more than a passing nod to the Australian regulatory environment. And the CEO of NZ's new Financial Markets Authority left his position as senior executive leader of corporations for the Australian regulator to take up his new role as CEO of the FMA. He is on record as saying that its holistic and unified regulatory approach is what the New Zealand government wants to emulate. So what does that mean for the future of financial advice in New Zealand? Paul recently joined ANZ in Australia to head its advice operations, overseeing more than 2,100 advisers across the ANZ group, with more than AUD45 billion under advice. Prior to that, he was general manager of advice at Colonial First State, leading one of Australia's largest advice networks. |
