In recent years, investors globally (particularly in
the US and Europe) have embraced Exchange Traded
Funds (ETFs). Global ETF assets peaked in July 2009
at US$862 billion, with 1,768 ETFs with 3,129
listings, from 94 providers on 42 exchanges around
the world. With the recent increase in number of
ETFs available on the Australian Securities
Exchange, Australian investors are now able to gain
exposures to a wide range of broad indices using
ETFs. This paper shows an Australian investor might
use ETFs either strategically or tactically to build
more efficient international equity portfolios.
