In the US, more than half of all equity funds are managed by a team but that leaves a lot of solo "star" managers. US-based Bloomberg Wealth Manager recently highlighted interviewed the author of a study on "which performs better - solo manager or investment team?"
The study undertaken by Richard T Bliss and Mark Potter (both assistant professors at Babson College in the US) examined some 3,300 or so actively managed US-domiciled equity funds (both US and international equities) for "periods ending in 2000" to see if there were any marked differences in the performance of funds managed by teams and funds with a solo manager approach. ...
