In this session, Dr Sethi explains India's long history of technology innovation dating back to ancient times when it gave the world the concept of zero, the decimal system, concepts of fractions and square/cube roots, the minus sign, and the calculation of pi. 

He traces the development of India's highly successful IT and business process outsourcing industries since Independence and the purchase of the first computer in 1956, including how the the expelling of IBM and ICL lead to the establishment of a domestic IT industry.

Finally Dr Sethi overviews the development of India from an IT outsourcing destination to its emergence as the world's R&D and design hub – the ultimate "rent-a-brain" supermart.
